The team behind cloud gaming platform Shadow.tech has reported a noticeable surge in the number of gamers using MacOS devices since the beginning of 2025. The service, originally created by French tech company Blade, is now owned by OVHcloud, Europe’s largest hosting provider.
Flexible and accessible gaming on MacOS
Shadow.tech allows users to turn even low-spec machines into high-performance gaming PCs by providing remote access to Windows 10 Home.
The spike in MacOS users is largely attributed to recent blockbuster releases such as:
- the post-apocalyptic action game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl;
- the brutal saga God of War: Ragnarok;
- city-building survival hybrid Frostpunk 2;
- intense horror Silent Hill 2 Remake;
- action-packed shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The French platform bypasses hardware limitations, letting users play demanding games smoothly with full access to a powerful virtual gaming PC.

Tech features driving popularity
Unlike most cloud gaming services, Shadow.tech isn’t limited to just playing games. It offers:
- file storage and management,
- folder creation,
- app installation,
- standard PC operations.
In essence, it’s a fully functional cloud-based high-end PC. This makes it especially popular among MacBook owners. Depending on the subscription tier, users get access to:
512 GB of high-speed SSD storage.
RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 4080-level GPU;
12- or 16-thread CPU with up to 4.2 GHz clock speed;
at least 12 GB of RAM;
