The countdown to the start of esports competitions in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has begun. This first-person shooter, co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, was released on October 25, 2024. Intense firefights against human and zombie enemies will take place both in familiar locations and on new maps.
Competitive Mode
According to the in-game countdown timer, the launch of the 3rd esports season is scheduled for March 20, 2025. Black Ops 6 brings numerous major changes, large-scale updates, and an impressive arsenal of firearms.
New sniper rifles, light and heavy machine guns, and grenade launchers are expected to be added to the game. The battle royale mode Warzone will unfold in Verdansk — a fictional city featuring:
- an international airport,
- a massive dam,
- a supermarket,
- an extensive underground system,
- residential districts and various infrastructure sites.
The multi-layered online arena can host 150–200 esports players at once. Developers have ensured a balanced combat experience at both close and long ranges.

Expectations for Season Three
This latest addition to the CoD universe is the first title officially recognized as an esports discipline for the Esports World Championship 2025. The competitions will take place in July–August of this year.
Black Ops 6 features unique movement mechanics referred to as “intelligent.” They allow characters to move omnidirectionally and switch instantly between:
- sliding,
- running,
- jumping in any direction,
- controlled falling.
Special settings have been implemented to automate various gamer actions — sprinting, sharp maneuvering, and more. Players can choose from a variety of HUD (heads-up display) presets.
In Season 3, esports players will have access to new maps named Babylon, Fazenda, Sanctuary, and others. The game will also introduce a massive mansion with twists, branches, staircases, a deep basement, and a dark attic.
