Mike Laidlaw, known as the “father” of Dragon Age and once the creative leader of its first three installments, is now involved in developing a new game at the independent studio Yellow Brick Games – Eternal Strands.
The main protagonist of this game is the young Weaver Brinn, one of the few surviving sorceresses after a catastrophe that devastated much of the world. Brinn joins forces with other surviving Weavers to embark on a perilous journey and confront monsters.
One of the key features of the game is battles with giants, where players can climb their bodies, similar to Shadow of the Colossus or Dragon’s Dogma. However, Yellow Brick promises to add an additional layer of gameplay with “revolutionary” physical interactivity.
The game’s combat system actively utilizes the environment: players can climb any surface, interact with fire and cold, and use real-time destructibility of the surrounding world. Next-gen physics allow for creating fires, igniting enemies, or exploiting weather conditions to one’s advantage.
Among other features of Eternal Strands, the developers highlight:
- A flexible combat system allowing for improvisation due to the physics.
- A combination of swords, magic, and mobility.
- Weapon and armor crafting.
- The use of magic to explore the surrounding world, such as creating ice bridges across chasms.
- A variety of characters to interact with at the camp.
For playing Eternal Strands on PC, it is recommended to have a system with the following specifications:
