Developer CampFire has announced that survival game Soulmask will leave Early Access by the end of 2025. Alongside the full release, players will also receive the major expansion Shifting Sands, which shifts the setting from the lush jungles of the Mayan world to the mysterious deserts of Ancient Egypt, blending mythology with futuristic technology.
The game’s core concept remains unchanged: the protagonist, having escaped ritual sacrifice, discovers a mystical mask that grants the power to control other humans. Captured NPCs form the backbone of the player’s clan, taking on roles such as resource gathering, crafting, and settlement building. This mechanic creates a unique balance of survival and management, somewhat reminiscent of Palworld, but with enslaved humans instead of fantasy creatures.

The Shifting Sands expansion dramatically expands the scope of the game. Players will explore sandy deserts, pyramids, and enigmatic temples. The setting combines Ancient Egyptian aesthetics with speculative sci-fi — solar barges soar through the sky using anti-gravity engines, while masks of gods like Horus and Anubis grant divine powers, including mystical wings that allow flight over the dunes.

The contrast with the game’s early stages is striking. What began as collecting stones and sticks for primitive tools has now evolved into mastering advanced artifacts and wielding supernatural powers.
The full version of Soulmask is scheduled for release at the end of 2025. The Shifting Sands DLC will launch simultaneously. The Early Access version is already available on Steam.
